Well, I have many a thing to blog about.

1. Oh, my toe....

Yesterday, I woke up not only with a terrible cold (at least, I think its a cold, I'm still suffering...) but also a terrible terrible ingrown toenail. I had one of these in Miami, but not nearly this bad! It hurt so bad, I could hardly walk on it. If you think I'm exaggerating, ask my mom. So I, in an
attempt to make it feel better, did a small operation on my toe, only to find it hurting even worse than it did before. After that, of course, I cry to my mom for help. She gets me to soak it in hot water to numb it, and as I sob and cry frantically, she tries to fix it. She didn't help it either. At this point, the pain was extremely intense. So, she calls a doctor. After calling several doctors and my dad (something she doesn't do except in emergencies), a nurse tells her to order me some antibiotics and come in next week to possibly get my toenail removed. Oh joy! So my dad called me in some antibiotics, and I am currently on pain killers. Isn't that wonderful?

2. Last day of w
ork

Today was my last day of work at Candy's. It was a bittersweet ending to my summer job. I'm glad to have more free time now, but it was a pretty d
ecent job, and it paid well!

3. Chikfila Shakes are Great!

I'm sipping on a Cookies & Cream shake as I type right now! Jealous yet? It's great! I'm also eating some Arby's fries. Yes, I went to two different fast food restaurants.
Why? Because I can!

4. What a hunk!

Well, I FINALLY saw Superman Returns last night! Before the movie, a friend of mine accused me of only wanting to see this movie for the "hunky" guy in it, probably because the last movie I saw (Pirates) also had a very attractive guy in it, and he had accused me of it before. Oh well. Superman was a very good movie, regardless of the gorgeous guy playing Clark Kent. He was simply a very large scoop of ice cream on an already delicious slice of cake. (Yes, I'm still sipping on my milkshake!) Anyway, it was a good movie and since it's about to leave theaters, I suggest the rental. Oh, and Marci-- you were right about the llama reference! I laughed at loud! Really! I was getting stares from people!

5. Six Flags

Is in two days!!! I know Jonathan can't wait!!

Yes, I'm Back....

So yes, I'm back from the beach. And no, I didn't take any pictures to post up here. This (to the left) is the hotel we stayed at, the Island House Hotel. Not exactly worth the hype, but it was okay I guess. It was on the beach, so it wasn't bad. The only bad thing was that it didn't have a refridgerator to put our leftovers in, but we bought a cooler. Our hotel looked like an office building, no joke. Pretty much all I did was lay out in the sun, relax, and eat. And I did a teeny tiny bit of shopping at the Foley Outlet.

My favorite restaurant that we ate at (between Lulu's, Lamberts, and Bubba's) would definately be Lulus. It was my first Lulu experience, and hopefully not my last. It was a fun atmosphere, and I loved the fun colors. I decided if I were to decorate a beachy restaurant, it would look very similar to this. We started out with two appetizers: fried okra (my favorite food in the ENTIRE world), and fried green tomatoes. Both were very good! Then I ate a Cheeseburger in Paradise, in tribute to Lulu (Lucy's) brother, Jimmy Buffet. Maybe you have heard of him? Anyway it was a great experience! I'm gonna miss the beach atmosphere, but I'm glad to be back!

Oh--- and if you haven't already tried it, go out to your local McDonalds and try their new Southern Style Chicken Sandwich! It's not as good as Chikfila's, sure, but still good for McDonalds! Finally, something I'll actually EAT at Mickey D's!

A Lazy Summer Day, and my Current Annoyance with the Dixie Chicks

Well, this is gonna be a short post since my computer keeps freaking out over "low disk space". Anyway, I'm going to the beach tomorrow, and coming back Wednesday, so no posts for a while. I have two bday parties when I get back also, so I really won't be posting for another week.

Today me and Katie Bell (and Jason, for a little bit) went swimming in my dad's pool. It was a very lazy day, and I'm a little bit burned, but it was a good day. It was nice to just lay around in the sun all day long.

The Dixie Chicks are getting on my nerves. Their new song "Not Ready to Make Nice" basically just bashes Bush. You know what, they were stupid and made stupid comments towards the president. And one of the lines in the song is something about Bush telling them to "shut up and sing or their lives will be over". Yeah, I'm sure our president is giving death threats to the dixie chicks. Whatever!

My Two Year Project, and What's up with this summer reading book??

Cute, right? It's sad that these little paintings took TWO YEARS to complete! I started these boards the summer before my 9th grade year. It is now the summer before 11th grade. Therefore, it took me two years. But not really, considering I started these back two years ago and haven't even picked them up until Monday...when I remembered I needed to, um, finish them. The X's are sorta messed up (thanks to my friend Laura... it's alright though) so they're not completely done, but I just wanted to show them off since they took so long and everything! Oh, and the yellows look different, but they're really the same yellows. I have decided that paint is my weapon of choice. Yes, I know, this is the 44 cent Walmart paint and probably isn't the best quality. This is what I say-- who cares?? It's cheap! Oooh, such pretty colors... thanks be to Laura (who doesn't read this blog, shame) for helping me pick out a color scheme for my sudden (or maybe not so sudden) painting whim! Moving on...

Okay, so I received this oh-so-lovely book in the mail today from Amazon.com, since this GREAT quality summer reading book -- choice of my insane history teacher--cannot be bought in any Montgomery book store... and can't even be ordered from there either. Therefore, me & my mom looked at amazon and bought this lovely book for about 16 dollars... way too expensive for a used book, but whatever floats your boat, amazon! So I got this book today... IT IS IN GREEK!!!!! WHAT???!!!! I don't speak or read Greek. I am officially mad at this history teacher. I already was (this is the same man who sent me to the office for TALKING in the hall two years ago-- the woman in the office just laughed and told me to go to class). Anyway, anyone know anyone who can translate this into English for me? Thanks!

Oh, and my mom passed her Praxis test! Be sure to embarrass her and tell her congratulations!

Pirates, Prada, and Play

Well let me start out by saying this. Earlier tonight, I wrote a beautifully crafted blog. It involved a brief synopsis of yesterday's events, plus my own personal movie critiques on the Pirates and Prada. Well, my laptop obviously didn't want that blog to be published...it deleted it without a reason. Grrr. So, saying that, here I go again... sorry it's not as beautiful but I really don't remember what I wrote earlier...
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest

Is it just me or are movie sequels getting
better and better? I remember the day when sequels were just dried out versions of the original with no creative material (see Grease 2 if you don't know what I'm talking about). This sequel is just as good, if not better, than the original. If no other reason (girls) go to see Orlando Bloom in all his wonderful glory. Or, if you're a Depp fan, go to see him too. And (guys) go to see Keira. Whatever you prefer. But this movie has all of the "it" factors of a good movie. It has a) a good plot b) great cast c) good special effects d) interesting twists and turns e) humor. It definately kept me interested. It wasn't one of those movies when I was checking my cell phone's clock every five minutes to see when the thing was gonna end. It was lengthy (2 and a half hours) but, looking back, it was worth it. Go see this one... you'll regret it if you don't. It WILL NOT be as good watching in in your living room. You need the whole movie theater experience for this one.

The Devil Wears Prada

I sort of feel bad for this movie. I mean, the reviews in the paper are terrible. I wasn't expecting anything. It's not the actors fault this movie is a dud...they just had nothing to work with. The plotline starts out predictable, but decent... I expected a typical ugly girl to stuck up pretty girl transformation storyline. Generally, that's what I got. There were random storylines thrown in there that just didn't seem realistic. Plus, who wants to see Meryl Streep without makeup? Not me. It was too long. It FELT too long. By the end of the movie, I was so ready for it to be over. Now, back to why I feel bad for this movie. The actresses (and actors) are generally good, they were given a plot and a script, they did their jobs. It's just that the script just wasn't that great. It was a typical chick flick I suppose, but after the Pirates high, I didn't really enjoy this one. Maybe it's worth the rental, but don't pay 7.50 to go see it at the Rave. It's not worth it.

Well, I went to Pirates with two of my best guy friends ever, then Prada with all my best church girl friends ever, then went to the girls church lock in. Nothing really to comment on there. There was a lot of Kareoke involved. And some people don't know how to play Sardines properly. And me and Marci were two of the ones that actually went to sleep. But, you know, it was a typical lock in. I'm not a big lock in person, I'd rather go to sleep than stay up all night long. And then some girls woke me up which upset me. But I went home and went to bed until 3:00 anyway. Waste of a day? Nah.

A Crazy Day, Random Scrunching Wonders, and some Not-so-good Sonic

Okay, so I know in the long run of things, I should be thankful that I have a great job, very laid back, and somewhat simple. I wash hair. I sweep up hair. I make appointments. I wash towels, fold those towels, put up those towels. I clean color bottles. I eat lunch. I clean. I get paid. Simple, right? I agree! On most days! But, I must say, I hate these days that we are overbooked to begin with, and then some random woman walks in insisting that Candy scheduled her for TODAY (when her appointment, in actuality, is next thursday) and refuses to leave until her hair is cut and colored. Don't get me wrong, this woman is a very sweet woman...but she set us back, oh i don't know, an hour or two. Hair is a complicated thing I have learned this summer. It's all part of a process. The majority of women that go to Candy to get their hair cut are middle aged women who need their hair cut and colored. Go figure. So it takes about 45 minutes to color the hair, right? So, after that 45 minutes, the woman who has color in her hair processes for about 30 minutes, then I shampoo and condition her, and then she goes back to Candy. Since Candy has no downtime to spare, she always (or almost always) starts coloring another customer while the other processes. I know this is boring, but it sounds easy, right? Well, it is, until one customer is late, another is early, two show up for the same time, etc. etc. Like I said, hair is a difficult thing. It's not like going to a local Publix and fighting with some older woman over who gets the last can of green beans. Oh no. People are very stingy about their haircuts, as I suppose they should be, since most appointments with Candy take at least 3 weeks in advance to get. Anyway, long story short, it was a crazy day. And I usually get off at 4:30 or 5:00...today, I walked into my house at 6:00. I was so hungry. That's beside the point though.

About a week ago, I decided I was sick of my straight hair and wanted wavy...you know, that scrunchy wavy beachy look that everyone's going for these days. So...I told my mom, and she bought me a hairdryer (I needed one anyway...I have VERY bad luck with hairdryers) with a diffuser if I wanted to use it. She also bought me some Aussie Scrunch Spray (NOT the product the left.) I have one thing to say about this Aussie stuff. Don't get it. It didn't do anything to my hair except make it smell like hairspray. It didn't even HELP it scrunch, even with the diffuser. My mom tried to help me, of course that didn't help either. "You don't have the hair to scrunch it!!" my mother says. That, of course, just wanted me to try harder, well of course it didn't work out. "My hair just wasn't scrunch worthy". So, I got BACK in the shower, washed out the (haha) Aussie spray, and straightened like always. Frustrated, I tried to forget of the silly Aussie spray. Stupid kangaroo commercials. Anyway, I was at Walmart the other day when I came across the product above, Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel. If you want some wave, I recommend this. I bought it, and I have enjoyed it ever since I bought it. I have straight hair, so of course my hair isn't completely curly when I try to scrunch it, but with the help of this stuff and my diffuser, my hair is finally achieving the beach worthy look I was going for in the first place. Out with the kangaroo, in with the garnier!

Sonic, America's drive in. Sonic has a pretty good reputation of good food, good desserts, good ice, and all this without getting out of your car OR having to sit in a drive thru line! The only difficult thing is deciding whether or not to tip your waitor/waitress. It's a very easy deal. And the food is generally good, and reasonably priced. Well, let me start out by explaining how I ended up at Sonic. My good friend (one of my best friends EVER) Colin is leaving for England on Saturday (moment of silence...) and won't be back for a month. So, in tribute (and since I won't see him until almost school time), we went to our annual place to eat, Sonic. Actually, not really our annual place to eat. But it's pretty close to his house. Moving on. We get there, I press the button. Nobody answers. It is pretty crowded (YESS COLIN) but still.... nobody answers. The light isn't even blinking anymore (a sign that someone should be taking your order by now...) but still no one. I even resort to talking to the little box -- "hello??? are you there???" but still, no one. So I press the button again, and get an almost immediate response. We order-- Colin ordered some sort of root beer slush thing, idk it sounded pretty gross to me. I ordered my brother a burger and fries to give to him later, and I order an ice cream cone for me. We FINALLY get our food-- we get the rootbeer thing, and Cameron's food... with an extra fry, how did THAT get in there... and no ice cream. So, I figure, how long can it possibly take to get an ice cream. I wanted that ice cream. I eat one of Cameron's fries. Nasty. I drink some of Cameron's coke. Disgusting. I look at Colin's Root Beer thing. ... enough said. So, at this point, I'm questioning Sonic's character. I finally get my ice cream, which wasn't that bad but wans't that good either... it was melting, for one thing, and it wasn't very big, and it was nothing compared to the ice cream cone I had last week at Dairy Queen. MMMHMMM good. Anyway, so I don't want to drive eating ice cream, so we sit there for a bit. I start to hear people screaming. I turn around... no one's there. I turn back around, me and colin are talking about ...who knows what at this point. I keep hearing people yelling. Suddenly I hear a guy shriek. "Okay, time to go." "Yeah, I agree." So we leave, we go sit in his driveway for a bit talking, then he leaves ... goodbye Colin. Anyway so that's not the point of the story. The point is, what's up with Sonic????

One more thing... I actually had a fun fourth of july this year. Who knew??

Earrings!

Well, I'm sorry if I offended anyone in my last post. Montgomery is NOT the only city that celebrates crazily, and the fireworks are pretty cool. I'm just saying, it has never been my favorite holiday.

Anyway, I don't have much to post about today, I'm going to the lake later, so I decided to tell of my shopping wonder! EARRINGS! You see, I love earrings. But I either end up losing them or breaking them. So... since my earring collection has pretty much diminished, I decided to go with Laura yesterday to buy some new ones! I went to Claires, of course, because they are extremely cheap (and cute) earrings. Sure, a bunch of the earrings were a) tacky b) trying to be emo or c) not for anyone over the age of 10, but they had a little corner dedicated to cute, colorful earrings. Another good thing about Claire's-- their earrings generally don't get over the price of 7 dollars, AND they always have a buy 2 get 1 free sale! So... I went a little crazy. I bought six pairs (so I got 2 free) and I love them all! Although, I now have a fetish with circle earrings, since I bought some in green, pink, and white. AND I got some bronzeish looking circle ones...and some straight dangly ones. Anyway, I hope everyone's having a great fourth of july!

The Fourth...

Okay, so I have decided I guess I'm the only person that's not that into fourth of july. I just really couldn't care less about this holiday. Not the sound unpatriotic, I love my country and everything, but this holiday in montgomery means two things: a) don't get on the roads, because the drunk people will run you over in a tremendous attempt to make it to their lake house in record time to drink more beer. b) don't go to the lake planning to go out in your boat, because the lake, however big, is not big enough to hold everyone's boat. blecch. this holiday has turned into a real joke. Last year for the fourth, i was in colorado climbing a mountain. happy fourth of july to me! The year before that, i don't think i did anything. I don't even think i have a memorable fourth of july story to tell. This year I am actually going to see the fireworks. WOO HOO! So, I hope everyone has a great Fourth of July! Drive safely!

My Latest Obsession...which is YOUR favorite?
