A Crazy Day, Random Scrunching Wonders, and some Not-so-good Sonic

Okay, so I know in the long run of things, I should be thankful that I have a great job, very laid back, and somewhat simple. I wash hair. I sweep up hair. I make appointments. I wash towels, fold those towels, put up those towels. I clean color bottles. I eat lunch. I clean. I get paid. Simple, right? I agree! On most days! But, I must say, I hate these days that we are overbooked to begin with, and then some random woman walks in insisting that Candy scheduled her for TODAY (when her appointment, in actuality, is next thursday) and refuses to leave until her hair is cut and colored. Don't get me wrong, this woman is a very sweet woman...but she set us back, oh i don't know, an hour or two. Hair is a complicated thing I have learned this summer. It's all part of a process. The majority of women that go to Candy to get their hair cut are middle aged women who need their hair cut and colored. Go figure. So it takes about 45 minutes to color the hair, right? So, after that 45 minutes, the woman who has color in her hair processes for about 30 minutes, then I shampoo and condition her, and then she goes back to Candy. Since Candy has no downtime to spare, she always (or almost always) starts coloring another customer while the other processes. I know this is boring, but it sounds easy, right? Well, it is, until one customer is late, another is early, two show up for the same time, etc. etc. Like I said, hair is a difficult thing. It's not like going to a local Publix and fighting with some older woman over who gets the last can of green beans. Oh no. People are very stingy about their haircuts, as I suppose they should be, since most appointments with Candy take at least 3 weeks in advance to get. Anyway, long story short, it was a crazy day. And I usually get off at 4:30 or 5:00...today, I walked into my house at 6:00. I was so hungry. That's beside the point though.

About a week ago, I decided I was sick of my straight hair and wanted wavy...you know, that scrunchy wavy beachy look that everyone's going for these days. So...I told my mom, and she bought me a hairdryer (I needed one anyway...I have VERY bad luck with hairdryers) with a diffuser if I wanted to use it. She also bought me some Aussie Scrunch Spray (NOT the product the left.) I have one thing to say about this Aussie stuff. Don't get it. It didn't do anything to my hair except make it smell like hairspray. It didn't even HELP it scrunch, even with the diffuser. My mom tried to help me, of course that didn't help either. "You don't have the hair to scrunch it!!" my mother says. That, of course, just wanted me to try harder, well of course it didn't work out. "My hair just wasn't scrunch worthy". So, I got BACK in the shower, washed out the (haha) Aussie spray, and straightened like always. Frustrated, I tried to forget of the silly Aussie spray. Stupid kangaroo commercials. Anyway, I was at Walmart the other day when I came across the product above, Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel. If you want some wave, I recommend this. I bought it, and I have enjoyed it ever since I bought it. I have straight hair, so of course my hair isn't completely curly when I try to scrunch it, but with the help of this stuff and my diffuser, my hair is finally achieving the beach worthy look I was going for in the first place. Out with the kangaroo, in with the garnier!

Sonic, America's drive in. Sonic has a pretty good reputation of good food, good desserts, good ice, and all this without getting out of your car OR having to sit in a drive thru line! The only difficult thing is deciding whether or not to tip your waitor/waitress. It's a very easy deal. And the food is generally good, and reasonably priced. Well, let me start out by explaining how I ended up at Sonic. My good friend (one of my best friends EVER) Colin is leaving for England on Saturday (moment of silence...) and won't be back for a month. So, in tribute (and since I won't see him until almost school time), we went to our annual place to eat, Sonic. Actually, not really our annual place to eat. But it's pretty close to his house. Moving on. We get there, I press the button. Nobody answers. It is pretty crowded (YESS COLIN) but still.... nobody answers. The light isn't even blinking anymore (a sign that someone should be taking your order by now...) but still no one. I even resort to talking to the little box -- "hello??? are you there???" but still, no one. So I press the button again, and get an almost immediate response. We order-- Colin ordered some sort of root beer slush thing, idk it sounded pretty gross to me. I ordered my brother a burger and fries to give to him later, and I order an ice cream cone for me. We FINALLY get our food-- we get the rootbeer thing, and Cameron's food... with an extra fry, how did THAT get in there... and no ice cream. So, I figure, how long can it possibly take to get an ice cream. I wanted that ice cream. I eat one of Cameron's fries. Nasty. I drink some of Cameron's coke. Disgusting. I look at Colin's Root Beer thing. ... enough said. So, at this point, I'm questioning Sonic's character. I finally get my ice cream, which wasn't that bad but wans't that good either... it was melting, for one thing, and it wasn't very big, and it was nothing compared to the ice cream cone I had last week at Dairy Queen. MMMHMMM good. Anyway, so I don't want to drive eating ice cream, so we sit there for a bit. I start to hear people screaming. I turn around... no one's there. I turn back around, me and colin are talking about ...who knows what at this point. I keep hearing people yelling. Suddenly I hear a guy shriek. "Okay, time to go." "Yeah, I agree." So we leave, we go sit in his driveway for a bit talking, then he leaves ... goodbye Colin. Anyway so that's not the point of the story. The point is, what's up with Sonic????

One more thing... I actually had a fun fourth of july this year. Who knew??

1) I have GOT to try that Garnier stuff. My hair is straight as a board & I've always longed for the slightly wavy, beach look. I can't bring myself to perm it because, well, that's permanent. I'm buying that stuff.

2) I love Sonic. Did you know you can buy their ice by the bag? It's the best ice ever. And I love their Cherry Limeade. I just recently discovered Sunkist Cherry Limeade & it almost tastes just like Sonic's Cherry Limeade. MMMMM.
